Around this time it started to actually become spring here in Minnesota, and so I figured some bright colors and a flower would be something cool to make. This was all done in Illustrator and it's only because I came across an effect I never even heard of.
First thing I did was make a star with the most points Illustrator would let me do, I then filled it with a radial gradient. I then made a copy of this and made it smaller to be the center point of the flower. Then I blended the two together and made sure it was a high amount of steps. Next I used the pucker and bloat effect to make the stars more of a rounded petal shape. Lastly it was using the effect roughen, which I have never seen or heard of, or used. This effect got me these cool layered petals, I went more jagged on the first image and smoother on the second image. Making these more like a rose and a dandelion.
