Again I have been wanting to do some animation work, this time I wanted a forever looping simple animation similar to my Randomness project. For this I followed some more tutorials and changed some things to create this Blender animation.
This project is different from the previous Blender project because everything was made from scratch in Blender. So I modeled the ping pong racket using a circle for the head and a rectangle for the handle and extruded it upwards to give it some thickness. Next I scaled the handle so it was thicker at the back and give it some more shape. Then I subdivided it and added a SimpleDeform modifier to have this whippy animation for the racket. Next I made the ball, which is just a sphere and lined everything up for the animation to have the ball hit, float in the air a little and come down all with the racket hitting the ball whipping down and twisting. That was easy with some keyframes and adjusting positioning.
Next was adding materials, and I didn't want to go realistic with textures because I haven't done anything like that, so I went with a cartoon style. So I just added different colors to the mesh and then used Freestyle in the context tab to get the black lines around the materials to give it that cartoon look. Lastly it was just rendering out the video and creating a gif from it.
