I saw a post on Instagram that had this 3D looking text, and thought I could replicate a look that resembled that. This was made using both Illustrator and Photoshop. I thought of the phrase Hakuna Matata because this was an easy sailing week,, school and life wise, so there was no problems or worries in the air.
First step was to make the matata text in Illustrator. I first used some calligraphic type as a reference for my own penmanship. To make this I used the blend tool, and the first part of that was to draw out matata with the pen tool. Once I had the letters proportionate and in line with one another I used the blend tool with a gradient to get an almost 3D look. With the gradient having a lighter and darker orange thing in on the bends. Next I imported that blend to Photoshop as a smart object to have it weave through the hakuna text. To do this I typed out hakuna and sized both it and the matata layer to have it proportionate to one another. I then added a layer mask to the matata layer and erased areas where it would go around the hakuna text. To give it a more 3D look I used the brush tool and added some white highlights on the matata layer and then some shadows underneath it but above the hakuna text to give it some depth.
